I don’t buy into the conspiracy that the Northside of Amsterdam somehow attracts anomalies and reprobates. Granted, it is definitely the Staten Island (or Shaolin) when compared to the Manhattan that is central Amsterdam; but I don’t consider that to be a bad thing. It’s nice to escape the chaotic pace of city life to a house five minutes from the Ijplein or Buiksloterweg ferries. There is one thing thought that I hate about the Noord. It’s this stupid red stute thing near Ijplein. While it is disgustingly ugly and at war-aesthetically-with everything around it, what angers me is that I can’t find any data concerning what it is and who made it. Any information assisting my comprehension of this red thing in Noord would be greatly appreciated.
